In conversation with… Kelly Gibbons Suicide Prevention Lead Senior – NHS England and NHS Improvement – Midlands

Virtual.
Free

Suicide is a topic many of us avoid discussing or, in some cases, many don’t even like to think about it, however 4912 suicides were registered in the UK in 2020 with male suicide at 15.3 per 100,000* compared to female suicide rate of 4.9 per 100,000*.  It can have devastating effects on the lives of those that are left behind and in order to raise awareness and have a greater understanding of this topic Kelly has kindly agreed to cover a session on:-

  • History – exploring the history of suicide as a crime, decriminalisation and the move towards support and prevention.
  • National Picture – current government strategy, data and high-risk groups.
  • NHSE/I – Looking at the work of NHS England & Improvement in suicide prevention
  • Suicide during Covid
  • The future – ambitions and hopes for the new government strategy
