SUMMARY:Midlands Talent Community of Practice Event
DESCRIPTION:“Communities of Practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.” Etienne Wenger \nOur aspiration for the Midlands Community of Practice is to create a true community of system and organisational talent practitioners who have strong relationships\, shared ideas and collaborative working. This is a community for you and with you involved. Within the Community we aim to create a blueprint for great talent practice within the Midlands region and we need your voice\, input and collaboration to make this a true inclusive process for all of our Midlands organisations. \n  \nWhat is it about? \nWe know that you value connection and conversation. We also know that you value problem solving together. So\, we have built this as our focus for the December Community. We will divide our time within 3 broad topics: \n–    Examining talent management at scale: organisations outside the NHS \n–    Connecting our organisation and system talent work and shaping our local approaches \n–    Looking to the future \nIn the true spirit of this community and collaboration\, please include other Talent management specialists in the community. This is a great time to be involved as we build our work together and take time and space away from the day job to think bigger and practically about talent. \n  \nHow is it run? \nThis is a 180 minute virtual workshop over MS Teams. A rest break will be included. \n  \nIs there a cost? \nNo\, this has been funded by the Midlands Talent Team \n  \n

SUMMARY:Coaching CPD – Express Coaching
DESCRIPTION:About the session:   \nThis will explore Express Coaching from the perspective of the coach:  building an understanding of how to be impactful as a coach in a time-limited\, outcome focused coaching session.  \nCalibrating your practice to supporting a coachee in potentially one standalone session can be challenging.  Overcoming some of the potential barriers\, natural preference and indeed bias to practicing in longer term coaching relationships will be key. We will explore the practicalities of contracting effectively to build rapport and trust quickly and then practice in an agile way along the spectrum of coaching to best meet the needs of the coachee.  \nThe session will build upon your current knowledge and experience whilst revisiting coaching models\, tools and techniques to build confidence in your practice in a short-term coaching relationship. You can expect a highly interactive session with plenty of opportunity to practice your coaching skills.  \nThis workshop will:  \n\nAllow coaches to develop skills to create psychological safety and build trust quickly with their coachee  \nProvide participants with access to coaching models available to help coach in a swift but person-centred & agile approach \nSupport coaches to confidently contract\, undertake goal setting and manage the relationship within the boundaries of the coaching contract within a single session\, or contract for up to 3 sessions \nProvide coaches with the opportunity to experience\, and practice delivering an express coaching session  \n\nWho is this session for?  \nThis CPD opportunity is intended to support the skillset of all practising coaches regardless of level of accreditation of experience.   \nYour Commitment:  \nExpress Coaching relationships will be included in your current commitment to coaching hours.  We are looking for willingness to providing at least 3 – 6\,  45-minute sessions per year (these may be one offs\, or\, up to 3 sessions with one coachee)  \nThe session will be delivered virtually on Microsoft Teams  \nAbout the Facilitators   \nJohn Monahan\, Director of Insightful Exchange  \nJohn is an integral member of the leadership team at Insightful Exchange. He is an experienced development professional with a background in organisational development\, leadership development and human resources. John’s experience spans a number of sectors and has included senior roles in NHS provider organisations\, he has worked at regional and national level as a Deputy Director at the NHS Leadership Academy.  \nJohn brings a depth of experience and understanding to Organisational Development and Leadership Development. His passion is to work in partnership to enable insight and growth whilst exploring the complexities\, challenges and rewards of leadership.  \nJohn is a chartered member of the CIPD and holds a Masters Degree in HRM\, he is an accredited Executive Coach\, an accredited MBTI practitioner and a Strengthscope Master.

SUMMARY:Mentoring CPD Session – Behavioural Science
DESCRIPTION:What is it? \nBehavioural Science  \nInclusion\, diversity and equity must be a golden thread that runs through everything we do in the workplace\, in our communities and in our mentoring sessions.  \nJoin Emma Coller of Growth Pod for a slightly different take on this topic area. This session will be two-fold. It will focus on how cognitive biases can hold people back from achieving their full potential and how understanding behavioural science can help you mentor people through action to achievement.  Secondly it will challenge your own biases and how that may impact on your professional mentoring development.  \nBecause as the wise Jesse Jackson said\, Inclusion is not a matter of political correctness\, it’s the key to growth.  \nDelivered via Zoom \nWho can attend? \nThis event is open to anyone who provides mentoring support\, both in a formal and informal capacity.  We welcome attendance from everyone\, please note you do not need to be registered with our Mentoring Hub to take part. \nIs there a cost? \nNo\, this training has been funded by Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning and is free for attendees. \nHow is it run? \nThis is a 90 minute live webinar with opportunities to ask questions and have a discussion with the facilitators and other attendees. Sessions will be recorded for anyone who signed up to watch again\, or view if they missed it\, so if you are uncomfortable with being recorded\, ensure your camera is off.
