SUMMARY:Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent PCN Leadership Development Programme cohort 2
DESCRIPTION:Votive Leadership Consultancy was formed in 2006 and specialises in developing leadership thinking\, improving employee engagement and helping organisations develop the culture and skillsets required to create high performing teams. Rooted in the belief that all leadership starts with self\, the consultancy has delivered its unique offering to a wide range of corporates and is also currently a member of the National NHS Leadership Academy. Over recent months they have worked with several Clinical Directors and Primary Care Networks to help them to establish themselves within the new model and deliver on the Long-Term Plan. \nAims: \nThe aims of the programme are to develop leadership capacity and capability across primary care to support the development of primary care networks\, the coproduction of health and well-being with people and communities and the service transformation described in the NHS Long Term Plan. \nThe programme is designed to provide delegates with increased confidence founded on a better understanding of each other and the common component parts of an effective team. We will provide tools to improve communication\, manage state in self and others\, understand the challenge of changing group think\, encourage open constructive conversations and establish a common leadership language across the region. \nProgramme Structure: \nThe programme is based around 5x virtual workshops\, each lasting no more than 2.5hrs\, and each designed to build on the learning and application from the previous. The programme will be supported via our Digital Learning Portal\, which delegates will be given access to at the beginning of the programme. Any pre-module work will be found there as well as a series of videocasts designed to support the key learning messages which underpin each module. These videos will be available for at least the next twelve months and will provide the delegate the opportunity to return to the learning\, access the tools discussed and support further development. \nThe programme will be held on the Zoom Platform and delegates will be given login details upon registration. The login details remain the same for the whole programme. \nThe Workshops: \nModule One: Leading Self: \nAll of our programmes have Leading Self at the heart and therefore this module forms the foundation module of the programme. All too often being overlooked\, the the ability to apply core leadership principles of Emotional Intelligence and responsibility adoption remains fundamental to good leadership practice. The module is designed to improve resilience\, provide the delegate with stress coping mechanisms and improve overall wellbeing. Simply put the module is designed to help the delegate to access more of their ability when they need it most\, and to be able to pass these messages on to those they lead. \n\nIntroduction to the practical application of emotional intelligence strategies in the workplace\nSupporting leaders in handling stress\nAttitude versus skills\nManaging state including the role of “response-ability’.\nDirecting the personal mental camera\n\nModule Two: Leadership & Culture \nUnique to Votive Leadership is the effective followership concept. All leaders have a followership role to play and ultimately\, they are there to create the right environment to allow effective followership traits to develop in others. This new and fresh approach to delivering a systems approach to leadership and culture fits perfectly with the People Plan and achieving the integration aims of the Long-Term Plan. The module also explores the core foundations of a leadership culture\, reviewing the “Customer Experience” and asking the fundamental question ‘why should anyone be led by you?” \n\nIntroduction to Systems Thinking approach to problem solving\nUnderstanding the concept of Effective Followership\nThe role of ‘servant leader’\nDeveloping a High Performing Team\nCustomer Experience.\n\nModule Three: Managing Change \nA leader’s job is to deliver change and the requirements of the Long-Term Plan will require leaders to manage and handle change effectively. For change to be lasting then the change needs to be made at the thinking level. At this level there will be a series of interferences and preconceptions which cloud the change agenda. A Practioner needs to have the tools and versatility to be able to cut through these and create new visions. This module looks at the psychology behind change and provide the delegate with practical tools to deliver change within the PCN. \n\nThe importance of changing at the ‘thinking’ level\nThe Iceberg model\nChange strategies\nStrategic thinking / Systems Thinking\nReframing the Comfort Zone\n\nModule Four: Improving Personal Communications \nImproving our ability to handle conversations\, especially those of a critical nature is vital. This module will focus on a series of skills-based techniques that communicators use to exert greater degrees of influence. Delegates will learn how to make conversations safe and how to improve their personal presence when communicating. We will also explore the effect of personality and help delegates design and develop their own Relationship Map. \n\nHandling critical conversations\nImproving influence and presence\nManaging conflict\nRelationship Mapping\nImproving listening\n\nModule Five: Developing High Performing Teams \nA leader’s role is to get the job done\, but it is also to release the potential in others through effective teamwork. This module focuses on what prevents a team performing effectively and looks at how we can gain alignment throughout the PCN. We explore the importance of the purposeful organisation and the need to establish a ‘corporate identity’\, one which will thrive within the system. We will provide delegates with the tools to further develop their networks and a pathway for them to follow to establish a ‘pull’ bottom-up approach to delivering healthcare solutions to their end users. \n\nThe dysfunctions of a team\nUsing Logical Levels to gain alignment\nThe use of questions to develop performance-based conversations\nThe importance of purpose\, identity\, mastery and autonomy.\n\nWorkshop 1        9 Sep     1400-1630hrs\nWorkshop 2        27 Sep   1400-1630hrs\nWorkshop 3        10 Oct   1400-1630hrs\nWorkshop 4        2 Nov    1000-1230hrs\nWorkshop 5        15 Nov 1400-1630hrs \nColleagues should participate in all five sessions.  Please book onto a cohort where you can make all 5 sessions. \nQuestions about this event? \nOrganiser: Jackie Bryan & Phillip Masuwa \nEmail: midlands@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk or Jackie.Bryan@StaffsStokeccgs.nhs.uk \n

Delegates are asked to bring real life-issues to this session \nUnderstand the different outcomes of mentoring\, including growth\, development\, career progression\, talent development\, diversity and inclusion \n  \nWho can attend?\nBoard executives including non-executive level\, clinical directors\, system leaders and senior leaders who work in Midlands. \n  \nTraining Dates and Information\nYou will need to attend all 3 webinars to be able to complete this programme and to register as a mentor with us\, registration is required prior to the date of your first webinar\, your profile will be activated on completion of the programme. \nLink to registration: Inclusive Mentoring : Leadership Lifelong Learning Midlands (leadershipacademy.nhs.uk) \nPlease note that as one of the purposes of this programme is to increase our Midlands NHS Mentoring capacity on our Coaching and Mentoring Hub\, by the end of the programme there will be an expectation that trained mentors will be registered on our mentoring database and mentor a minimum of two mentees per year.  In return\, the Midlands Leadership Academy and Talent Team will provide excellent CPD opportunities and ongoing supervision. \nThis training is delivered via Zoom\, you may need to contact your IT provider to ensure this is enabled on your equipment. \n  \nCohort 21 session dates\nSession 1: 12 September 1400 – 16:30 \nSession 2: 26 September 1400 – 16:30 \nSession3: 10 October 1400 – 16:30 \n

SUMMARY:Population Health Led Strategic Workforce Planning Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:This masterclass will explore how a strategic approach to workforce planning can address current and future needs in primary and community settings. Population health including demographic change over time and the impact of Covid 19 is the starting point for understanding the kind of workforce that is needed. The session will focus on key principles of a population health led approach to workforce planning in primary and community care. Examples of how this approach has been applied elsewhere will be shared and there will be opportunities for participants to engage in short exercises to enhance the learning experience. A toolkit to do workforce modelling will be presented in the form of a slide deck which can be distributed to interested parties and will set out similar material in a more detailed way. \nThe approach used by the Whole Systems Partnership is rooted in local population health needs and is framed in the language of skill-mix and the delivery of care functions that meet the needs of distinct people groups within a given geographical area.  The approach has been applied at all levels from a local GP Practice to an ICS and has helped local partners to identify recruitment and staff development priorities that are rooted in future health needs and transformed services. \nAt the end of the session participants will have: \n\nA greater understanding of population health segmentation as it applies to strategic workforce planning\nAn understanding of how a strategic workforce planning framework can be used to set out an effective workforce plan for the future\nTools that can be used to do strategic workforce planning\n\nDate and Time:\nTuesday 13th September 2022; 3.30pm to 6pm \nWho can attend the programme?\nAll NHS staff from Primary\, Secondary and Social Care \nIs there a cost to participants?\nNo\, the programme is fully funded by NHS England \nFacilitators:\nPeter Lacey (Director of the Whole Systems Partnership (WSP)) \nTabitha Arulampalam (Associate Consultant with WSP) \nSpecial requirements: \nIf you have any special requirements\, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our team at midlands@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk \nFurther information:\nThere are 20 places and the masterclasses will be held via Microsoft Teams. SUMMARY:Equally Healthy
DESCRIPTION:This masterclass Equally healthy – leading with compassion to reduce health inequalities in your community is designed and delivered to provide a practical approach to population health management and a unique insight of behaviour science on leading and managing change to address inequalities. The facilitators will be taking a different route into the perennial challenges of health inequalities and population health by exploring lived experiences from your population in advance of the session to reflect on the realities of ‘health inequalities’ in human terms and how you could usefully help\, sharing thoughts with other participants.  Where possible\, they’d love it if you would bring a real change you’d like to see in your community – then you can leave the session with an actionable action plan.  Don’t worry if you have yet to settle on one\, you can still enjoy learning how to have better conversations with communities using psychology. In the masterclass the facilitators will share behavioural insights tools from social psychology and use a systemic lens to consider the impact of exclusion\, from digital skills to those excluded from equal health due to their socio-economic or ethnic background\, culture or education; resulting in communities who live shorter lives\, with more pain and higher incidence of chronic conditions.  They will explore how to have different conversations with your community\, and how you might use psychology to influence a mindset shift around health inequalities. You will learn about the neuroscience of compassion – when and how it can shut down; and how to ensure that compassion and inclusion are woven into your leadership and any decisions about citizens when designing primary care pathways. Figuring out how to create inclusive\, equally healthy communities might not be a comfortable process\, but if you are joining this session\, we suspect you know the uncomfortable truth already. Health inequalities are unfair – and it is time to act; time to really collaborate across the system – and to have conversations with our citizens about their part to play in leading healthier lives. \nThis session will be facilitated by Carter Corson\, a firm of specialist business psychologists\, who have been working with health systems for over 20 years to better understand how people and organisations behave. \nBy attending participants will gain: \n\nA solid understanding of Population Health Management and how important it is as a concept to address inequalities.\nAn insight into the some of the behaviour science techniques that can help to make change project more successful.\nFresh ideas and renewed confidence to tackle inequalities in their own communities in collaboration with others.\n\nDate and time:\nThursday 15th September 2022; 2-4.30pm \nIs there a cost to participates in the Programme?\nNo\, the Programme is fully funded by the Midlands and East of England Leadership and Lifelong Learning teams. \nWho can attend the webinar?\nAll NHS staff from Primary\, Secondary and Social Care\, working in the Midlands region. \nWho are the facilitators:\nCarter Corson Business Psychologists enable high performing organisations and systems through an applied understanding of human behaviour. Curating the best research for practical results.  We work with people and organisations who can make a difference – and have done that for over 20 years. \nFounded in 1999 by Hazel Carter and John Corson to innovatively blend psychology and management consultancy. Twenty years later Hazel still leads the business\, and she is delighted that business psychology is now a respected advisory profession. \nCarter Corson focuses on achieving measurable improvement through coaching\, development\, assessment\, and consultancy by applying the best research from neuroscience\, social and clinical psychology and leadership\, and considering the systemic context and the impact of technology.  Hazel’s curiosity about people and passion for making a difference remain visible in Carter Corson’s mission and values. In changing times\, we are proud that somethings stay the same.  Hazel is currently a NHS System coach for London and Lincolnshire\, supporting PCN Alliance development and Provider Collaboratives as part of the ICS strategy. \nClosing Date:\nThis offer will close two weeks prior to the delivery date (or earlier if places are filled). We will confirm your place by email. \nAny special requirements?\nIf you have any special requirements please do not hesitate to get in touch with our team at midlands@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk

SUMMARY:Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent PCN Leadership Development Programme cohort 3
\n\nThe dysfunctions of a team\nUsing Logical Levels to gain alignment\nThe use of questions to develop performance-based conversations\nThe importance of purpose\, identity\, mastery and autonomy.\n\nWorkshop 1        27 Sep   1000-1230hrs\nWorkshop 2        17 Oct   1000-1230hrs\nWorkshop 3        2 Nov    1400-1630hrs\nWorkshop 4        16 Nov 1000-1230hrs\nWorkshop 5        29 Nov  1400-1630hrs \nColleagues should participate in all five sessions.  Please book onto a cohort where you can make all 5 sessions. \nQuestions about this event? \nOrganiser: Jackie Bryan & Phillip Masuwa \nEmail: midlands@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk or Jackie.Bryan@StaffsStokeccgs.nhs.uk

SUMMARY:Mentoring CPD session – Creating Positive Change
DESCRIPTION:Creating Positive Change \nMost people have very mixed feeling about change. Some changes can leave us feeling worried and even fearful and some change can spark excitement and joy.  The truth is that no matter what we think about change\, it comes loaded with uncertainty and this makes navigating change messy.  \nHowever\, when we shift how we think about change we can actually help people flourish through change  \nJoin Emma Coller of Growth Pod for this mentoring workshop which will teach you some evidence-based tools to help you confidently mentor others to embrace the messiness of change\, learn the magic tools you can use to help people navigate the uncertainty and learn how to help others amplify their confidence through the journey.    \nBecause as Abraham Maslow once wisely said\, “In any given moment\, we have two options. To step forward into growth\, or step back into safety.”  \nDelivered via Zoom \nWho can attend? \nThis event is for mentors who are already registered on the Midlands Mentoring Hub as part of their CPD requirement. \nIf you would like to access this training and you are an experienced or trained Mentor\, please join our coaching and mentoring hub here prior to booking your place. \nIs there a cost? \nNo\, this training has been funded by Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning and is free for attendees. \nHow is it run? \nThis is a 90 minute live webinar with opportunities to ask questions and have a discussion with the facilitators and other attendees. Sessions will be recorded for anyone who signed up to watch again\, or view if they missed it\, so if you are uncomfortable with being recorded\, ensure your camera is off.
