SUMMARY:From intention to impact – Supporting the development of inclusive recruitment and nurturing our talent -  Eliminating bias in the recruitment process
DESCRIPTION:Last year systems submitted plans on how they will meet the 6 recruitment high impact actions for diverse appointments.  These submitted plans were reviewed by the regional workforce team and the outcomes of that review was shared through 2 regional engagement workshops with our system and organisational colleagues.  As result of the sessions key themes emerged. \n brap (www.brap.org.uk) is supporting the Midlands NHSEI Equality & Inclusion Team by facilitating four thematic sessions to enable professionals to explore their workforce recruitment practices.  The four themes are: \n\nidentifying talent\,\nadvertising roles\,\neliminating bias in the recruitment process\, and\nsupporting retention and progression.\n\nThese sessions will be an opportunity to review strategies and interventions\, further our understanding of the evidence base\, and think through actions that can be more impactful. \nWe intend to have a final session in September (date to be confirmed nearer the time) to exchange knowledge and learning from the four sessions. \nThe sessions will therefore be run under Chatham House rules\, and participants will be invited to be open and honest so that we can expand our collective expertise. Most importantly we want to be able to move into a space where more informed action can support a more inclusive workforce. \nFurther Dates and times of sessions: \nTuesday\, 24 May 2022 from 1.30pm to 16.30 – Identifying talents  \nMonday\, 6 June 2022  from 9.30am to 12.30 –  Supporting retention and progression \n  \nWho’s this session for?  \n\nSystem Workforce Leads\nHR Colleagues (Recruitment Leads)\nTalent Leads\nEDI Leads\n\nWe would like for each of our systems within the Region to make an active participation and contribution. Therefore\, we encourage attendance at all four sessions from our 11 ICS’s. \n  \nTo book  \nEach session will focus on an aspect of the recruitment process\, as described above\, although there will be some inevitable overlap. \nTo book onto the sessions\, please click on the RSVP section below. \nPlease note that that you will receive joining instructions and a link to the session a few days before each of the events.  Therefore\, we advise you to put a hold in your diaries.

SUMMARY:Spotting\, Nurturing and Developing Diverse Talent with Pearn Kandola
DESCRIPTION:What is it about? \nJoin us on the 27th April for this engaging\, thought provoking and evidence-based session with guest speaker – Bailey Bell\, Business Psychologist at Pearn Kandola. Bailey will provide an overview of proven ways of identifying diverse talent\, how to develop and to build great performance from diverse talent. This will include facets of inclusive selection and onboarding\, and the key factors in making this happen at the core of the vital recruitment process. Many organisations often overlook this step and make decisions which make inclusion at other stages of the employee life cycle very difficult. \nAbout our Guest Speaker and Pearn Kandola \nBailey is a Psychologist with Pearn Kandola. He has previously conducted research into the impact that daily stressors have on working behaviours\, instilling fair and accurate processes and other factors affecting diversity and inclusion in organisations\, which he applies to his work. Bailey works with organisations at various stages of the employee lifecycle\, designing and delivering on a wide range of projects including inclusive culture and process\, unconscious bias and inclusive leadership workshops\, and talent management programmes. Pearn Kandola are one of the world’s leading D & I specialists and are an organisation of business psychologists – established in 1984\, with an impressive heritage of working with the world’s largest organisations across both private and public sector – including the NHS and Civil Service. \nThis event is part of several exciting and innovative sessions being hosted by the Midlands and South West Talent Management teams in 2021/2022 as part of our Inclusive Talent Management Masterclass series. \nWho can attend? \nThis session is specifically aimed at NHS HR\, OD and Talent Management professionals and senior leaders who have a responsibility for leader and talent development within an organisation or across a system. \nHow is it run? \nThis is a 150-minute virtual workshop via Zoom. \nIs there a cost? \nNo\, this has been funded by the Midlands and South West Regional Talent Teams.
