SUMMARY:PCN Clinical Director Professional Leadership Coaching Programme Cohort 3 (22/23)
DESCRIPTION:This programme is being delivered in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ambitions of the recently published NHS People Plan. With a growing population and people living longer\, often with long-term conditions\, and health inequalities\, the demand on local health services is ever-increasing. To meet this increased demand\, Primary Care Networks [PCNs] are to become the building blocks to every Integrated Care System [ICS]\, allowing community\, mental health\, social care\, hospital and voluntary services to work together to enable greater personalised\, compassionate\, inclusive\, coordinated and integrated health and social care. This system will require a different way of working\, different relationships and new roles for general practice and primary care. \nThe Opportunity \nNHSE/I Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning Team is providing a fully funded programme of 1 x 90-minute professional leadership coaching session\, followed by 2 x 60 minute follow up sessions\, to support Clinical Directors [CDs] of PCNs working in the Midlands. The coaching is provided by Beyond Coaching and their Leadership Coaches. \nCoaching offers a confidential and supportive environment for Clinical Directors to: \n-Consider their own leadership style and challenges \n-Focus on their Clinical Director leadership role \n-Understand and lead change \n-Explore collaboration and system working \n-Clarify what it will mean to be successful and support the integration of the health and care system. \n-Have the headspace to work through challenges and opportunities related to your leadership role. \n-Reflect on and develop the collaborative\, compassionate and inclusive leadership skills that are key to success. \n-Increase personal insight\, enabling you to build your confidence\, build on your talents and play to your strengths. \n-Increase understanding of personal resilience and how to deepen it. \nCoaching is particularly relevant when individuals are faced with change\, challenges\, opportunities or options. It is relevant for those who want to review where they are now\, consider how they would like things to be different and plan next steps.  Coaching is about developing and utilising personal insight\, taking action and looks to the future; it will help you to identify what is important that would extend satisfaction and fulfilment and how you will achieve it.  During coaching\, you will have a chance to appreciate the skills and experience that you have accumulated\, deepen your existing competencies\, and identify and clarify opportunities for change to be even better as a leader. \nCoaching will be provided by a highly qualified\, and experienced professional Leadership Coaches. \nAbout Coaching                                               \nCoaching is a confidential 1-to-1 relationship with a professional coach who works with you to clarify your goals and help you to determine how to best achieve them. It sounds simple and indeed it is\, however\, in this increasingly busy world\, very few people\, particularly in primary care\, have time to stop for long enough to reflect\, gain clarity\, and achieve their purpose. Coaching is about many things\, however\, principally it is about behavioural change that benefits the individual\, at work and at home\, and in the results that they achieve. \nCoaching will support you to: \n-Identify clear goals and objectives you want to achieve \n-Understand yourself at a much deeper level and use this to influence your own behaviour and communication towards others in order to achieve better outcomes \n-Increase your resilience and motivation \n-Reduce stress in order to achieve your goals more quickly \nCoaching is not therapy or counselling. Coaching is almost entirely a forward-looking process that helps you get from where you are now to where you want to be\, and to do so faster than if you were working on your own. \nEligibility Criteria for this Coaching Support \nFunding is being provided by NHSE/I Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning Team. To be eligible for this programme\, you must be: \n-A Clinical Director of a Primary Care Network (PCN) in the Midlands \n-Able and willing to commit to 1 x 90-minute professional leadership coaching session\, followed by 2 x 60 minute follow up sessions between the end of October 2022 and the end by February 2023. \n-And crucially: Want something to be different for yourself (even if you are not sure what that is). \nDates & Times: \nYou will need to commit to 1 x 90-minute professional leadership coaching session\, followed by 2 x 60 minute follow up sessions between the end of October 2022 and the end by February 2023. \nIf you are allocated a place on this coaching programme\, coaching session dates will be agreed personally between you and your allocated coach. \nOn behalf of NHSE/I Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning Team and Beyond Coaching\, we look forward to receiving your Expression of Interest. \nIs there a cost to participants?  \nNo\, the programme is fully funded by Midlands Leadership and Lifelong Learning\, NHS England \nSpecial Requirements:  \nIf you have any special requirements with regards to accessibility either before\, during or after the event\, then please don’t hesitate to contact us at midlands@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk. \nConfidentiality & GDPR \nData contained in the Expression of Interest form will be treated as confidential. SUMMARY:Mentoring Skills for Senior Leaders Cohort 22
DESCRIPTION:What is it about?\nThe aim of this webinar series is to provide high quality mentoring skills development to senior leaders so that they are able to offer mentoring support to a wide range of individuals at different levels of seniority and in different disciplines within the Midlands area and to provide our talented leaders with tools and theories which will allow staff to work collaboratively\, compassionately and in an inclusively diverse manner through engaging in curious mentoring conversations. Developing mentors supports the NHS Long-Term Plan\, the People Plan and the development of diversity and opportunity for all. \nThe programme is designed to provide individuals with insight and vision into ‘what is needed’ and the specific tools needed to release the underlying potential within their mentees\, in their system\, as well as the wider NHS organisation as part of our mentoring community. \n\nWhat is mentoring?\n“Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential\, develop their skills\, improve their performance and become the person they want to be.” Eric Parsloe\, The Oxford School of Coaching & Mentoring. \nA mentor is someone who offers you space to think who has already had experience of the area you wish to explore and has knowledge and networks which may be appropriate to share as you develop and grow as a professional and as a person. \n  \nMentoring is used: \nTo develop systems and place-based leadership at all levels to support population health \nAs a deliberate conduit to build leadership for inclusion \nTo shape and develop inclusive and system-focused talent management and succession planning for the health and care economy \nAs enablers for the organisational development (OD) agenda for cultural transformation and redesign that places the pledge of the NHS constitution at the very heart of leadership practice for world class patient and citizen care. \n  \nMentoring allows: \nOff-line support to encourage innovation and creativity\, through an external sounding board able to challenge assumptions \nWorking beyond professional/organisational boundaries\, to develop wider understanding and recognise the ‘bigger picture’ \nDevelopment of leadership skills for inevitable ongoing changes: ‘time out’ to reflect on own and others learning and leadership approaches \nFeedback\, challenge and support from an impartial person\, able to ask powerful questions and unlock potential \nBuilding support networks that extend into the sources of power within organisations and societies. \n\nProgramme Structure\n Outcomes \nA clear understanding of what mentoring is\, along with the key skills and competencies required to be effective in the role \nImproved skills in listening\, asking questions\, contracting and boundary setting\, giving feedback\, offering high support and high challenge in conversations\, agreeing options and overcoming barriers \nDevelopment of skills that underpin development of compassionate\, inclusive and collaborative leadership support\, person-centred care\, and empowerment to foster independence \nAn understanding of reciprocal and upward mentoring and its benefits \nAn understanding of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council Code of Ethics \nSelf-reflection and raise self-awareness through input\, exercises and discussion. It will include a blend of theory\, discussion and experiential learning\, supporting individuals to learn and develop as a result of the training \nThey will also have the experience of having acted as Mentor\, Mentee and Observer in the afternoon’s mentor practice session. Delegates are asked to bring real life-issues to this session \nUnderstand the different outcomes of mentoring\, including growth\, development\, career progression\, talent development\, diversity and inclusion \n  \nWho can attend?\nBoard executives including non-executive level\, clinical directors\, system leaders and senior leaders who work in Midlands. \n  \nTraining Dates and Information\nYou will need to attend all 3 webinars to be able to complete this programme and to register as a mentor with us\, registration is required prior to the date of your first webinar\, your profile will be activated on completion of the programme. \nLink to registration: Inclusive Mentoring : Leadership Lifelong Learning Midlands (leadershipacademy.nhs.uk) \nPlease note that as one of the purposes of this programme is to increase our Midlands NHS Mentoring capacity on our Coaching and Mentoring Hub\, by the end of the programme there will be an expectation that trained mentors will be registered on our mentoring database and mentor a minimum of two mentees per year.  In return\, the Midlands Leadership Academy and Talent Team will provide excellent CPD opportunities and ongoing supervision. \nThis training is delivered via Zoom\, you may need to contact your IT provider to ensure this is enabled on your equipment. \n  \nCohort 22 session dates\nSession 1: 4 October 14:00 – 16:30 \nSession 2: 11 October 14:00 – 16:30 \nSession3: 17 October 14:00 – 16:30

SUMMARY:Mentoring CPD Session – Strengths
DESCRIPTION:What is it? \nStrengths  \nDid you know every person has a set of neurological superpowers?  \nThese superpowers\, also called strengths are how our brain is wired to perform at its best. When we regularly use our strengths\, we amplify our ability to feel good\, build resilience and motivation.    \nProfessor David Cooperrider’s research has shown most organisations spend around 80% of their development time focused on weaknesses which can produce the opposite outcomes.  \nJoin Emma Coller of Growth Pod for this mentoring workshop which will teach you how to help others find their strengths and provide you with the tools to mentor others to regularly engage in their strengths to enable them to feel good\, build resilience and improve their performance outcomes.  \nBecause as the wise Marcus Buckingham once said\, you will excel only by maximizing your strengths\, never by fixing your weaknesses.  \nDelivered via Zoom \nWho can attend? \nThis event is open for mentors from all 7 regions. \nIf you would like to access this training and you are an experienced or trained Mentor\, please join our coaching and mentoring hub here prior to booking your place. \nIs there a cost? \nNo\, this training has been funded by Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning and is free for attendees. \nHow is it run? \nThis is a 90 minute live webinar with opportunities to ask questions and have a discussion with the facilitators and other attendees. Sessions will be recorded for anyone who signed up to watch again\, or view if they missed it\, so if you are uncomfortable with being recorded\, ensure your camera is off.
