It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing thing. It’s an incremental approach and [you] can start to introduce the coaching approach into your conversations in lots of different ways. And it doesn’t have to be that that whole conversation is a coaching one\, but that you are using elements of what we are learning. It’s part of our toolkit now and making us think differently about how we might have some of our conversations.”   \n“This course seemed unique in its focus on simplicity and practice\, with regular feedback – instead of coming out of it thinking with practice this will be really useful\, but then forgetting to practice to embed it. I am already using it and it is becoming second nature to me.”  \n“Definitely do less. To achieve more. Because it doesn’t make you a worse manager. It actually makes you a better manager”  \nListen to how physio Ben Jeeves is using a coaching style in his work with patients.  \nOther information: \nIf you are unable to attend any of the sessions above please register via our Expression of Interest page\, this will help us to understand the demand for our programmes and plan accordingly. SUMMARY:Introductory Session on Neurodiversity by Jasmine Murphy
DESCRIPTION:Join Jasmine Murphy (Consultant in Dental Public Health and EDI Champion) on 11th May 2023 for an introductory session on Neurodiversity. It is an important aspect of the EDI agenda for the NHS; not only in ensuring that we are more inclusive about the needs of our neurodivergent colleagues but also that of the population that we serve in the work that we do\, particularly with our statutory mandate on reducing health inequalities. \nIt has been estimated that neurominorities make up approximately 20% of the population. Unfortunately\, there is still a significant societal stigma and misconceptions about learning and thinking differences that also create barriers for neurominorities in gaining equal access to NHS employment and also NHS services affecting life chances and opportunities as well as health outcomes. \nNeurominorities are often made to feel like failures in the workplace and in society. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Together\, we can change the narrative. Instead of focusing only on the drawbacks of being neurodivergent\, it’s time to also acknowledge and recognise the many strengths and talents that come from thinking and perceiving the world differently. By celebrating the strengths of neurominorities\, we can begin the seismic shift of changing the way they are perceived and treated\, including how neurominorities feel about themselves. \nJoin us to learn more about neurodiversity\, what we can do to support neurodiverse people to develop a more positive perception of their own unique neurodiverse traits and skills in the workplace and for them to thrive in society. Come and hear from neurominority colleagues who will also be attending the session to share their lived experiences. \nWho should attend? \nAnyone within the NHS.  Equality\, diversity and inclusion is about people and is important to all of us.  By raising awareness\, it promotes greater understanding and empathy and defines us and our values. \nPlease Note:- \nIf you need any special requirements with regards to accessibility\, either during\, or after the event\, then please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to assist. \nWe will send an email with details of joining instructions for the day to all participants\, prior to the date. \nIn order to participate you may need a webcam and a headset. \nYour computer will need to have the sound function on so you can hear and speak at the webinar. \nYou will need to be connected to the internet for the duration of the webinar. \nThis webinar may be recorded. \nPlease also note that there will be a short evaluation form for you to complete at the end of the session – it is so important to us to get your feedback on each intervention we produce.  We want to ensure we continue to meet the needs and demands of the NHS.

DESCRIPTION:“By developing individual strengths\, guarding against weaknesses\, and appreciating the strengths of other types\, life will be more amusing\, more interesting\, and more of a daily adventure than it could possibly be if everyone were alike.”\n– Isobel Briggs Myers \nPeople often ask us: \n\nHow can I understand more about myself and others?\nHow can I build stronger relationships with my team members?\nHow can I enhance my own personal effectiveness and performance?\nHow can we improve the communication in our team?\n\nOnce you have an understanding of what makes you really tick\, then your whole world will look different. Not only will it lead to greater self-acceptance\, but it will also help you accept and value the differences of others.\nThe purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is to make sense of people’s behaviour\, which often comes across as seemingly random variation\, when it is in fact actually quite orderly and consistent due to basic differences in how individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.\nWhen you understand your Type preferences\, you can approach your own work in a way that best suits your style\, it can help you better understand the culture of the place you work\, develop new skills\, understand your participation in teams\, and cope with change in the workplace.\nThis workshop is aimed at helping you understand more about your own and others communication preferences. As well as supporting personal and professional development\, what you learn from this workshop will help your team work more effectively together and be more successful when facing communication challenges. \nWhat will be covered? \n\nWhat makes a high performing team?\nIntroduction to MBTI® Type characteristics\nIdentifying your MBTI® preferences and recognising others\nCreating a Team MBTI® – strengths and development opportunities\nExploring Type dynamics and communication differences\nTeam action planning\n\nDelegates will learn how to: \n\n\nWhat the MBTI® type characteristics are and understand more about your preferences.\nHow to recognise other team members’ communication preferences and how you can improve relationships.\nThe value that you bring to a team and know what makes a high performing team.\nWhat you can do to support implementing a team action plan that focuses on enhancing team communication.\n\nWho is this workshop for:   \nThe NHS Leadership Academy provides leadership development for people of all backgrounds and experiences across health and care.  \n\nOther information:  \nIf you are unable to attend the session above please register via our Expression of Interest page\, this will help us to understand the demand for our programmes and plan accordingly.
