SUMMARY:NEW DATE - System Talent Review and Succession Planning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:What is it about? \nWe are pleased to offer opportunities for members of our local talent network to join a series of workshops we will be running with a focus on talent review and succession planning at a system level. \nAimed specifically at those responsible for leading on these activities in an ICS/STP environment\, the purpose of this workshop is to consider the implications of implementing these activities in a systems context and to consolidate skills and knowledge required to do this successfully. \nThe workshop will take place over two half-days and will cover: \nPart 1  \n\nAn overview of the strategic requirements relating to talent management and succession planning in a systems context\nConsideration of the infrastructure\, processes and tools essential to carrying out talent reviews and succession planning successfully at system level\nCreating the right conditions and preparing for effective talent reviews\n\nPart 2  \n\nParticipation in a talent review and succession planning simulation\nOpportunity to share reflections\nConsideration and action planning in relation to local application\n\n\nPlease note in order to attend part 2\, you must be able to attend the first session as this will lay the foundations for this session. \n  \nWho can attend? \nThis session is specifically aimed at NHS HR\, OD and Talent Management professionals and senior leaders who have a responsibility for talent review and succession planning within an organisation or across a system. \n  \nHow is it run? \nThe workshop will take place as follows: \n\n\n\n \nDate\nTime\n\n\nPart 1\nTuesday 28th September\n9.00am – 12.30pm\n\n\nPart 2\nThursday 6th October\n1.00 – 4.30pm\n\n\n\n  \nIs there a cost? \nNo\, this has been funded by the Midlands Talent Team.

DESCRIPTION:About the session:\n\n\nA two-hour online collective inquiry into our experience of power in the workplace – and of the ways in which we might ethically improve our organisational presence and practice in this respect. \nWhat to expect in this session:\nIn the course of this interactive event\, participants will be invited to: \n\nReflect on their personal understanding of power\nExplore power in the context of their workplace – both their own power and that of others\nExpand their understanding of power in an organisational context in order to develop a more nuanced view of it and the way in which it presents itself\n\nBy the end of the session\, the inquiry will have provided attenders with the opportunity to: \n\nAcknowledge the way in which power inhabits organisational settings\, notwithstanding corporate efforts to “disappear” it\nAppreciate how they personally experience power – and the ways in which their power might be being experienced\nCommit to rethinking their presence and practice in the workplace in a way that is positively mindful of the web of power in which we find ourselves enmeshed\n\nWhat to expect Who is this session for?\nThe NHS Leadership Academy provides leadership development for people of all backgrounds and experiences across health and care. \nBook your Place via this link\n\nThursday 29th September – 11:00 – 13:00\n\nSouth East Leadership Academy will retain a record of your name\, job role\, organisation\, band\, and contact details on its secure alumni register and contacts database for management information and communications purposes. He has worked in and around health care for 35 years\, beginning as an Operating Department Orderly in 1981. In 2012\, he completed his Doctorate in Education at the University of Greenwich\, with a thesis that explored reflective practice and healthcare professionals through the lens of power. His first book appeared under the title Radical Organisation Development (Routledge\, 2020); more recently\, he co-wrote with John Higgins a book called Leadership Unravelled: The faulty thinking behind modern management (Routledge\, 2022). Their new title on voice\, silence and power in organisational life is due to be published early in 2023. Mark blogs on organisational life at www.radicalod.org Mark is a visiting lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire Business School and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
