Complete Leadership Series – Leading with compassion & Moral Purpose
What is it about?
Leadership with Compassion & Moral Purpose is a component part of the Leading with Compassion Series aimed at leaders who are new to line management or in the first year or two in a line management role. Participants are welcomed from clinical or non-clinical backgrounds to this 3-Hour online session which will help you to:
- Understand how moral purpose is important in Leadership
- Review and refresh our understanding of what the NHS is here for and the ethical standards we aim to uphold
- Consider the behaviours and intentions to support leading with moral purpose
- Discuss how ethics and values play into leadership actions and the impact we have as leaders
- Enjoy collaborative learning with colleagues across the Midlands
A key theme of the NHS People Plan is Compassionate Leadership and this workshop draws upon academic input around leading with wisdom and moral purpose and reviews the values and standards we have a duty to uphold in public office. The workshop will look at what we might learn from our clinical colleagues to uphold ethics in NHS leadership: what impact we can have as leaders by adopting an ethical approach and how this can support our moral purpose.
The session will require you to watch a short TedTalk video lasting approximately 20 minutes which will be the focus of some breakout group work. There will be opportunities to work in small groups with a range of engaging exercises and to learn from one another’s experience. You will be encouraged to leave the session with a Personal Action Plan to take forward.
